Hospice Knowledge
When hospice agencies are multiple in a community, it makes it more challenging to make the right choice. Although, the general philosophy of hospice care is held throughout the country, all hospice organizations are not created equal. Things you may want to evaluate as you interview or select the hospice for your care may include; a reputation of distinction, standards of excellence in caring for the client, community contribution, in home care that can be provided by all disciplines for routine and urgent needs, availability of a Hospice House for persons with needs for intensive management and/monitoring, a bereavement program which provides options for families, and a mission of compassion.

Although the goal of hospice care is to provide service to patients and families in the comfort of their own home, this is not always possible. There may be a time when managing pain or another symptom is difficult in the home as the medication dose may need to change hourly. The patient and/or family may be feeling overwhelmed by the changes.

When necessary, RTA Hospice & Palliative Care is able to offer an In Patient Unit setting (Hospice House) to bring the patient so that he/she can be cared for by professional nursing staff until the symptom is once again managed and the client can return home. These Hospice Houses are located in the communities of Casa Grande, Payson and the White Mountains. These beautiful buildings were constructed with dedication to comfort, dignity and privacy for the client and family.

The Local Advantage
RTA HOSPICE, Inc. was established in 1991 to fulfill the need for hospice care in rural communities throughout Arizona where large hospices did not venture. With the help of volunteers and paid professionals, clients and families are assisted through this time of life by truly caring members of their own community.

From Northern to Southern Arizona, RTA HOSPICE, the philosophy of care, mission, and small-community base brings with it a family atmosphere throughout the organization. Both clients and employees who have been with other hospices in the past find a vast difference in attitude and quality of care after coming to RTA.
