Inpatient Units
The goal of hospice care is to provide comfort care to our patients in their home, surrounded by family, friends and loved ones. When this is not possible, RTA Hospice provides a home-like environment in the RTA Hospice Inpatient Unit (Hospice House).

RTA's Hospice House offers an inviting atmosphere to hospice patients and families. Seven private rooms are available and family members are invited to spend day and night with their loved one. A large family room, kitchen and patio make a comfortable place for families to gather. A grieving room and serenity garden provide space for privacy and comfort. The unit is staffed 24 hrs a day by Hospice trained RNs, aides and volunteers.

All patients admitted to the Inpatient Unit must qualify for inpatient services under Federal Regulation 418.98. Stay in the unit is for short-term symptom control, crisis management, imminent death, respite, or in some cases, to allow time for other care-giving arrangements to be made. All decisions regarding eligibility are made jointly by the Interdisciplinary Team, the physician, and the family.

Hospice Services
Hospice offers a "team" approach to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient and family. The team includes patient, family, physician, nurse, social worker, chaplain and volunteer. All services are available for the patient and family at home as well as in the Inpatient Unit.

Receiving Services
A referral can be made to hospice by anyone. The patient, family and primary physician must all be in agreement with the hospice philosophy and in making the transition from curative and aggressive treatment to comfort care. An evaluation by a Hospice RN can be arranged by calling the RTA Hospice office.

Funding
Hospice services, including inpatient care, is covered by Medicare, AHCCCS, and most private insurances. RTA Hospice, Inc. also provides service to those without financial resources with the help of our Foundations.
